Acquire Deal Flow: 1 Website, 3 Aged & 6 Brandable Domains (Plus a New Service)

1 content site pick from Flippa, 3 aged domains on Odys, and 6 brandable domains on Godaddy. Plus I soft launch my Sponsorship as as Service.

Hey there đź‘‹,

I soft launched a new service on ACQUIRE.GG last week that I’m calling Sponsorship as a Service where I’ll be running sponsorship on other people’s Substack newsletters (using the Swapstack platform), as well as running ad budget for brands in our business / investing space:

Reach out to me if you’re looking to spend in newsletters, or have a newsletter in our space and want someone to manage sponsorship communication and billing.

New Flippa Listings

Since last week, there were 11 new content site listings on Flippa (-7 on last week) earning > $100/m with verified traffic (GA integration) over 2 years in age:

Small content sites ($100/m to $500/m in profit) - currently 68 listings, 8 new listings (6 auction, 2 classified)

Medium content sites ($500/m-$5K/m in profit) - currently 99 listings, 3 new listings (1 auction, 2 classified)

Large content sites (over $5K/m in profit) - currently 20 listings, 0 new listings (0 auction, 0 classified)

This Week’s Flippa Picks

Please view this as initial screening - I do not check any revenue / profit claimed and am not recommending you should acquire these assets. Do you own due diligence and/or buy DD on Flippa or Centurica.

If you want further assistance with your acquisition, you can book a micro-consulting call with me on Clarity, details at ACQUIRE.GG.

Only one site to feature this week on Flippa that passes my criteria - the rest were either non-English sites, and/or traffic was declining, or multi-site packages, or confidential listings. This begs the question:

As a Flippa affiliate, I earn a % of what Flippa earns from listings sold.

thesnowguide.com - $2,800 asking price at auction (reserve not met)

I’m very familiar with this type of site as used to run the ski website snowbistro.com which wrote about the UK ski trade (B2B) and offered productized services. It was also great way to get free trips and equipment back in the day, but now it’s just an AI content test bed.

Anyway, onto this site, traffic looks to be ticking up again, ready for this coming snow season, but will it get back to its 20K/m previous high (according to Ubersuggest) in March of last year? The number of keywords it’s ranking for are tracking well:

Looks like about 10% of traffic comes to the top page which reads well, like what an AI would generate. Stated to have made $5K in Amazon Associate earnings in 2021, on review posts.

The site owner in the listing sets out all the ways that upside can be generated - it’s very comprehensive which makes me a bit apprehensive as to why he hasn’t done it himself…

Upside Wins

  • Add comparison tables to review posts

  • Over 400 pages in Google index yet the owner states on the listing page there are 175 articles - you can cull half in a content audit

  • Add other affiliate programs, i.e. booking.com, within posts, in a sticky sidebar and on exit popups, to increase revenue

  • Add advertising to boost revenue, such as Ezoic

  • Build better links to improve domain authority so can rank for bigger terms

  • Improve EAT, such as the about page and add social profiles

đź‘Ť Patey Recommends

Platforms, services and media in our online acquisition space.

One-click AI content that is good enough to publish. Enter a keyword, give the AI some context (optional) and out will come on average 1900 unique words designed to outrank your competition (based off the top 10 results). Plus they have now solved AI detection, meaning that tools like On-Page or HuggingFace's AI Detector will no longer detect. Plans start from $150/m for 4 posts.

Aged Domains

FactorialDigital.com on Odys - $2,870

Used to be a SEO agency with a high end brand (bizarre to let this DR25 drop) with links from moz.com and techcrunch.com. I’d build a site about AI-based SEO and content at scale - it’s the future after all:

HorsemanCapital.com on Odys - $8,600

A more expensive one this as it’s a 22 year aged domain that used to be a UK fund provider. I’d buy this to redirect into (and power up) a more brandable domain in the personal finance space, targeting low competition keywords around alternative assets:

TheGetSmartBlog.com on Odys - $2,870

Former social media blog, DR13, with links from socialmediatoday.com and techcrunch.com, I’d do what Odys recommends:

The obvious strategy for this domain is to host an authority site that reviews social media plugins and analytical tools for increasing reach. Create a blog with dedicated sections where you'd cover all the different aspects of social media management and monetization, providing reviews, how-to guides, and other types of content. Monetized via affiliate marketing and sponsored content.

Brandable Domains

vacated.com on Godaddy

Premium one word .com domain for a travel website. Over 20 bidders on this one, current bid over $1K with 2 hours to go. Last year I would have been certain this would go for high 4 figs (or more), but it’s a brave new world out there, hopefully you can get it for less.

BitPockets.com on Godaddy

Reminds me of the site BiggerPockets: Create & Build Wealth With Real Estate Investing. Could make a site around investing in bitcoin / crypto. Currently no bids, 4 hours left.

leadbutler.com on Godaddy

Good domain for a SaaS business in the lead generation space (think Lead Fuze). 6 bidders so far, current bid $69 (dude), 2 hours left.

traderlabs.com on Godaddy

With this much volatility in the markets, it’s a great time to be a profitable trader. Of course almost all are not, but that doesn’t stop the course market, such as these crypto ones on Benzinga, most will have affiliate programs. Likewise so does TradingView - I need to buy their Black Friday offer this year and sign up as an affiliate! Currently 4 bidders, $100 current bid, 3 hours to go.

DrunkHippy.com on Godaddy

I actually have no idea what I’d do with this domain, but I love the name. Currently no bids, 3 hours left.

nowfinish.com on Godddy

Could be for a site about martial arts / UFC, no bids, one hour left.

That’s it for this week’s content site picks. If you’ve not yet subscribed to this deal flow newsletter, you can do so here:

Cheers!

Richard
