Acquire Deal Flow: 2 Aged Domains

Let the good deals flow - this week we have an aged domain from Odys, and one from Niche Website Builders

Hey there đź‘‹,

I may start to combine these aged domains newsletters with the content site deals with upside wins on Flippa into one weekly Deal Flow email, just like I used to do back in 2020 with the investing.io newsletter (subscribe). But for now, they are still separate, so you get double Patey in your inbox.

If you’ve not yet subscribed, here’s the CTA:

Niche Research Upgrade

Before I get to the deals, just wanted to update you that Niche Site Metrics is now version 1.3 and has gone up to 75K websites listed, monetized by display ads networks and affiliate programs.

You can filter by domain rating, organic traffic, category, earnings, and now by the number of indexed pages in Google, to help find more opportunities.

Ian keeps threatening to put the price up but hasn’t yet!

Aged Domains

Building sites out on aged domains can be hit or miss, but when they take off it can save you years of effort and tens of thousands of dollars in link building. What I’ve found works best is properly matching topics and categories of referring domains, from the previous website to the new one you want to rank.

Referring Domain Analysis

Domain has some high authority links such as designboom.com and gq.com, with the later stating the former website was for a coffee shop “on my block”.

All great brand anchors, no SEO magic here.

Odys Monetization Angle

This domain is a picture-perfect platform for hosting an authority website about everything Coffee. While the obvious audience segment includes coffee lovers, consider filling it with reviews about the best coffee products like coffee grounds, pods, grinders, machines, etc. as well as various off-beat cafe destinations around the world. We can also have a section for a business offering printed and customized coffee mugs. Monetized via affiliate marketing, sponsored content, and display ads.

My Thoughts / What I’d Do

I really like this 2-word .com as a brand (and so did the previous coffee shop owner).

I’d build a site out about specialty coffee, seeing as I’ve become quite the snob since the pandemic, and looking at Google Trends I’m not the only one, up 25% over the last year:

Plus the previous site did have a post on the homepage on single-origin coffee looking at Archive.org back in just April of this year (and has backlinks to it shown above) which has been recreated by Odys here.

In fact, the whole site has been restored.

All that’s left to do is to find low-competition keywords that answer questions about specialty coffee, so let’s bring in Ubersuggest (I find it easier than Semrush):

Then you can hire humans to write the content, or just add the keywords into a Content at Scale subscription and go make a coffee while the AI does its magic.

For monetization, well I wouldn’t recommend setting up a coffee shop (or buying one, I’m done considering that!), so best stick to display ads and coffee affiliate programs - Authority Hackers has a great post on this.

Niche Website Builders have made this easy for me - all the metrics are on the domain page and I agree with the above strategy and this 16-minute expert review!
