🔍 Domain Floor Prices?

One man's mission to understand what's a good pickup price at auction on different category domains. Plus a top sale on Twitter, and my pick of the latest Odys aged domains.

Hi there đź‘‹,

The most recent Domain Sherpa podcast talked about how Q33.com sold for $20K and how LNN.com patterns are great stores of value.

This really got me thinking and led me down a rabbit hole.

I first started looking at comps of recent domains at Namebio:

And subsequently went through a couple of weeks’ worth of DSAD.com auction recaps and Namebio market reports looking at results for 4N/5N/6N and LNN/NLL configurations of .coms. I list them all below.

I was trying to understand what a good pickup price was, and then figure out what the wholesale or, coming from my NFT perspective, floor price is.

By the way, I have an NFT newsletter at nifty.substack.com if, like a lot of domainers, you’re into this kind of thing:

Before we get to today’s domains, if you’re a domaining company reading this interested in reaching over 2000 subscribers with over 50% open rate, just hit the sponsorship button below:

L7D Sold at GoDaddy Auctions

This is not going to be a regular feature unless you tell me this is useful to more than just myself! I’ve gone through the last 2 weeks of domain sales to find the cheapest pickup at auction (which I’ve bolded), to understand what is possible before I start bidding on these myself.

And for sure, some numbers and combinations are better and more valuable than others, and understanding Numeric Domain Value in Chinese Culture is super important.

If you can help me understand what the wholesale (or floor) price for each of these categories is, please leave a comment below or hit reply! I tried renewing an old DNWE.com subscription, but they didn’t have any domains in any of these categories.

Aged Domains at Odys

Most SEO domains are ugly as hell, but some actually make for decent brands. Here are my top picks of brandable domains with link juice, to build sites out on. I also liked Min-BTC.com but I personally can’t get past hyphens.

5 years of age, 75 unique referring domains, 1 high authority link

History of domain

Former domain of the site of a sustainable art and theater network.

Odys Monetization Angle

Use this domain to create a literal heaven for cinephiles. Create a multi-faceted blog filled with film reviews, articles about world's best directors, and movie theater reviews, and consider creating a dedicated section for aspiring and beginner directors, where you'd cover everything about filming equipment, techniques, digital tools, etc.

13 years of age, 77 unique referring domains, 8 high authority links

History of domain

Former domain of the site of a dating tips blog that empowered singles to take chances, build confidence, and find love.

Odys Monetization Angle

This domain would work perfectly hosting an authority website focused on dating apps. Fill it with content reviewing apps and other digital products associated with dating, especially those meant for remote relationships. Monetized via affiliate marketing and sponsored content.

NYLawyer.com - $37,650

History of domain

A domain that formerly hosted the site of a New York-based free daily news site for young associates and lawyers.

Odys Monetization Angle

Use this particular domain to build out an authority site in the legal services niche. As for content, consider filling the site with listings and reviews of the best lawyers and legal companies based in New York. Monetize it via lead generation.

I’m often asked where I hand register domains, and the easy answer is Namecheap. They also offer Handshake domains, and I will likely be staking my .lazy TLD there in the future to sell decentralized SLDs.
